To be completed annually by suitably qualified persons.

Site Contact: Carl Williamson (0431 633 492)

The aim of the following procedures is to provide assurance that the fire pump systems are operational and ready for use. Test results shall be recorded electronically via the form below and stored online so that they may be accessed at any time. Maintenance work will not be considered complete until the form below has been successfully submitted and received by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Section 1 - Pre Survey checks
1.1 All previous defects and non-conformances attended to and recorded
1.2 Inform Flinders Ports signal tower and SAMFS of testing being carried out
1.3 Isolate Romteck unit
1.4 Check for any obstructions to pump, control panel or driver access
1.5 Check for signs of damage or corrosion
1.6 Check for signs of oil and water leakage
1.7 Check battery containment / covers and coupling guards
1.8 Check pump controllers are on and not isolated or in alarm
Section 2 - Voltage Tests
Note: Wear suitable ear protection when diesel engine is running
2.5 Remove ship-to-shore hydrant caps and open V18 & V19
2.7 Check "Pump Running" light for Pump 1 is on within 10 seconds
2.9 Check "Pump Running" light for Pump 2 is on within 10 seconds
Section 3 - Flow Tests
Run each pump for a minimum of 10 mins and during that time record the pump performance (adjusting the flow using V18 & V19 accordingly). At the end of the test record the bearing temperatures.
3.17 At the conclusion of flow tests close V18 & V19 and replace ship-to-shore hydrant caps
Section 4 - Inspection & Maintenance
4.1 Inspect oil filters and replace if necessary
4.2 Inspect air filters and replace if necessary
4.3 Inspect fuel condition and replace fuel filter if necessary
4.4 Inspect cooling system hoses and replace if necessary
4.5 Flush cooling system and replace with coolant approved by manufacturer
4.6 Pressure test cooling system as per manufacturer's recommendations
4.7 Clean Y Strainer on water side of heat exchanger
4.8 Check drive coupling for wear and lubricate
4.9 Check hold down bolts and tighten if necessary
4.10 Check exhaust system for corrosion and leaks
Section 5 - 2 Yearly Procedures
5.1 Replace fire pump batteries
5.2 Check all pressure gauges calibration
Section 6 - 5 yearly Procedures
6.1 Disassemble each pump and valves as per AS 1851 Table 3.4.3.9 & 11
Section 7 - Post Survey
7.1 Check valves are in their correct standby position (see wall chart)
7.2 Check fire pumps have stopped and low fuel alarm has not operated
If either low fuel alarm is active arrange for both fuel tanks to be filled
7.3 Advise SAMFS works are completed and de-isolate Romteck unit
Section 8 - Service Records
