Foam system controls survey

To be completed annually by suitably qualified persons.

The aim of the following procedures is to provide assurance that the foam system controls are operational and ready for use. Test results shall be recorded electronically via the form below and stored online so that they may be accessed at any time. Maintenance work will not be considered complete until the form below has been successfully submitted and received by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Section 1 - Pre Survey checks
1.1 All previous defects and non-conformances attended to and recorded
1.2 Inform Flinders Ports signal tower and SAMFS of testing being carried out
1.3 Isolate Romteck unit
Section 2 - Combined Defect Testing
2.1 Open foam system control panel, trip F4 and check for defect at FIP then reinstate F4
2.2 Isolate Pump 1 and check for defect at FIP then de-isolate
2.3 Pull cable on top of foam tank to tip float switch and check for defect at FIP
2.4 Switch on "Test Mode" and check for defect at FIP
Section 3 - From the fixed station in the fire control room
3.1 Select "Local" control station and ensure "Test Mode" is on
3.2 Start the Left and Right monitors on foam, check ROV3 & ROV4 remain closed and blue LEDs flash
3.3 Turn both monitors off
3.4 Start the Left / Southern monitor on water, check one pump has started and Left / Southern monitor is discharging water
3.5 Check flow is >4,200 L/min and pressure is >900 kPa
3.6 Check the joystick moves the Left monitor up, down, left and right
3.7 Check the fog-jet switch widens and narrows the Left monitor delivery
3.8 Start the Right / Northern monitor on water, check both pumps have started and Right / Northern monitor is discharging water
3.9 Check flow is >8,400 L/min and pressure is >900 kPa
3.10 Check the joystick moves the Right monitor up, down, left and right
3.11 Check the fog-jet switch widens and narrows the Right monitor delivery
3.12 Using V15 or V16 throttle flow to the pump header reducing pressure to 1400 kPa and check red LEDs flash
3.13 Turn both monitors off
3.14 Isolate Fire Pump 1 and start Left monitor on water, check Fire Pump 2 has started and monitor is discharging water
3.15 Start Right monitor on water, check monitor delivery is refused and red LEDs flash
3.16 Turn off Left monitor and check Right monitor is discharging water
3.17 Turn both monitors off and de-isolate pump
3.18 Repeat steps 3.14 to 3.17 with Fire Pump 2 isolated
Section 4 - Post Survey
4.1 Check "Test Mode" is switched off and "Belly-Pack" is selected at fixed control station
4.2 Check valves are in their correct standby position (see wall chart)
4.3 Check fire pumps have stopped and low fuel alarm has not operated
If either low fuel alarm is active arrange for both fuel tanks to be filled
4.4 Advise SAMFS works are completed and de-isolate Romteck unit
Section 5 - Service Records
Defect Type: 1 - Critical Defect, 2 - Non-Critical Defect, 3 - Non-Conformance, 4 - Recommendation
