Pinkenba Common User Berth - Brisbane
Our brief was to deliver a low cost fire safety system on a berth in regular use that complied with Australian Standards and Australia’s obligations under SOLAS. Cost and a lack of site space meant that a fresh water supply without tanks was the best solution.
To reduce installation time on this busy wharf, the pumps, foam storage and proportioning and control station were assembled in a shipping container and commissioned before delivery to site. Foam / water monitors were mounted on 12m towers, the towers were hinged so the monitor could be lowered to horizontal for maintenance.
This project was delivered early in 2012 at substantially less than the traditional cost for such a wharf.
